About the course
Our International Tea Sommelier Program is a vivid course, starting from the fundamentals to the most in-depth knowledge on tea. It encompasses knowledge about conventional teas (Camellia sinensis) as well as herbal teas and tisanes. The Tea Sommelier Program is divided into 2 parts - Intermediate & Advanced. Each level is of 2 days.
International Tea Sommelier (Intermediate) Program
Day 1
Session 1: Tea Tasting and Sensory Evaluation
Introduction to Tea Tasting: Basic principles and guidelines.
Step-by-Step Evaluation: Conducting tea tasting using the 4 key senses.
Tea Taster’s Flavour Wheel: Learn the methodologies and terminologies used in tea tasting.
Activity 1: Olfactory Training
Practice aroma identification to enhance your sensory skills.
Lunch at Raming Tea House - Enjoy a special lunch prepared with tea leaves in different styles
Session 2: Tea Processing Steps
Learn all the stages of tea processing: plucking, withering, fixation, rolling, shaping, oxidation, drying, and aging.
Explore the biological reactions that occur in tea during processing.
Session 3: Afternoon Tea Session
Guidelines for preparing and serving tea - Learn the etiquettes and styles of serving afternoon tea.
Activity 2: Enjoy an Afternoon Tea Party
Session 4: Basics of Tea from Different Terroirs
Discover the unique flavours of teas from different terroirs and understand how the micro-climatic conditions influence taste.
Tea Tasting 1: Exploring Black Teas from Different Terroirs
Taste and compare black teas from Assam, Darjeeling, Dooars, Nilgiri, Ceylon, Kenya, Nepal, and Thailand.
Day 2
Activity 3: Visit to Raming Tea blending & packaging plant
A guided tour of the plant to observe the tea blending and packaging process.
Lunch at 148 Cafe by Raming - Enjoy indigenous food featuring Northern and Lahu hill tribe style cuisine.
Activity 4: Visit to Cha Siam Black Tea Factory
Learn about the best practices in the black tea production process.
Session 5: Tea Grading & Evaluation
Understand the standard grading for black teas and types of white, green, oolong and post-fermented teas.

Dive into the Details of Tea Blending and Packaging
Tea Tasting 2: Evaluating Black Teas of Different Grades
Taste and evaluate various grades of black tea: Orthodox type and CTC type.

Policies
Terms & Conditions*
An additional $ 100 will be added to the course fee if you decide to include accommodation for 2 nights for each level of the Tea Sommelier Program. The accommodation is equivalent to a 3-4 star standard hotel with breakfast, located in a touristic area. It is very close to Asian School of Tea - Thailand, only 5 minutes walking distance.*
If you book 3 courses together (Tea Connoisseur Program + Tea Sommelier Intermediate Program + Tea Sommelier Advanced Program), then we offer a special price of $ 1660 (with accommodation) or $ 1360 (without accommodation).
Confirmation Policy
The participant receives a confirmation voucher via email within 24 hours of successful booking
In case the preferred slots are unavailable, an alternate schedule of the participant’s preference will be arranged and a new confirmation voucher will be sent via email
Alternatively, the participant may choose to cancel their booking and a full refund will be processed
Cancellation Policy
For cancellations made at least 15 days before the commencement of the course, 30% of the advance payment shall be deducted, and the balance will be refunded. Alternatively, you may choose to join an alternative batch. The choice of alteration shall be provided only once and as per the proposed course calendar of the school.
For cancellations made less than 15 days and up to 7 days in advance, 60% of the advance payment shall be deducted, and the balance will be refunded.
For cancellations made less than 7 days in advance, No refund will be issued.
In case of unforeseen weather conditions or government restrictions, certain activities may be cancelled and in such cases the operator will try his best to provide an alternate feasible activity. However no refund will be provided for the same.
Refund Policy
The applicable refund amount will be processed within 15-30 business days.
